Uziza also known as Piper Guineense is a West African leaves used as a spice in variety of dishes. It is commonly found in Nigeria and Ghana. It has a peppery taste and a unique flavor and aroma.
Uziza as it is called by the Igbos, Ata iyere by the Yorubas, and Masoro by the Hausas, Uziza is is used often by most tribes in Nigeria to cook soups like ofensala, particularly by the Igbos and also afiaefere which is an Efik soup, and it is also used in pepper soup.
